SOCIEUX+ in Peru: Promoting green jobs
In a seminar-workshop entitled Designing and implementing public policies for promoting green jobs, experts from SOCIEUX+ presented the European experience of managing public programmes promoting green businesses and jobs, the conceptual framework, the 2030 agenda and international commitments in this area. The attendees also studied relevant experiences in countries like Brazil and Costa Rica and the Peruvian experience with programmes such as Impulsa Perú (Promote Peru), Jóvenes Productivos (Productive Young People), Trabaja Perú (Work Peru) and Perú Responsible (Responsible Peru).
The participants worked specifically on the design and implementation of green job pilot projects in workgroups that looked at the following topics: green creation, the economic empowerment of women in the green economy, skills and abilities for green jobs, zero carbon, full employment, inclusive sustainable tourism and green competitiveness. Each workgroup presented its proposals and its definition of the objectives, results, stakeholders, products, resources and risk management in an animated discussion.
The workshop, which was held from 9 to 20 April 2018 at the MTPE and then at the regional office of the ILO in Lima, was attended by officials from the Ministry of Labour and Promotion of Employment, Ministry of Development and Social inclusion, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, and representatives of regional governments (AREQUIPA, San Martin) and Departments/Regional Offices of Labour and Promotion of Employment (D/GRTPE), together with representatives from Peru Responsable (a national programme to promote corporate social responsibility) and other organisations, such as the Peruvian Environmental Network.
National Forum for Green Jobs in Peru
The results of the workshop were also taken to the National Forum for Green Jobs in Peru, held in Lima on 19 April 2018.
The Forum, organised by the Ministry of Labour and Promotion of Employment (MTPE), the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the European Union, also had the support of SOCIEUX+ and the Partnership for Alliance on Green Economy (PAGE).
SOCIEUX+ took part in the forum, moderating various parallel thematic panels, in particular, those on skills and abilities for green jobs, solid waste management and a fair transition for all.
