Cote d'Ivoire
As part of the project to modernise and expand civil protection in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (PC RCI), ten emergency assistance centres for Ivorian civilian firefighters will be opened up until the end of 2019.

On 8 November 2019, the Bondoukou emergency assistance centre (CSU) was officially opened in the presence of the Ivorian Minister of Security and Civil Protection and the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union. It is part of the PC RCI project, which is financed by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France. This project is based on three pillars:

• Capacity building for civilian firefighters through training;

• The provision of specialised equipment (water tankers, ambulances, breakdown trucks, emergency vehicles, fireman outfits);

• The operationalisation of infrastructure by carrying out specific works.

Thirty CSUs have been built by the Regional Councils of Côte d'Ivoire throughout the country. Ten of them were subsequently equipped – furniture, rolling stock, emergency assistance and firefighting equipment – by Expertise France as part of the PC RCI project.

Each CSU is now able to deploy about fifty men and women to deal with accidents (road accidents, falls, fires, etc.) that threaten people and thereby ensure the safety of individuals.
