Ambition Africa: The Leading Economic Forum Between France and the African Continent

The 2025 edition of Ambition Africa provided the agency with an opportunity to participate, through its Chief Executive Officer Jérémie Pellet, in a panel discussion on “Mobility and Urban Planning: What Models for the African Cities of Tomorrow?”.

This was an opportunity to reaffirm the agency’s and the AFD Group’s commitment alongside African partners in supporting countries in their transition toward more sustainable mobility.

At the national level, Expertise France supports regulatory and transport authorities by assisting them in the planning of public transport systems, taking into account social inclusion issues, and ensuring effective coordination between different modes of transport (information interfaces, ticketing systems, balanced fare policies and fare integration, intelligent transport systems). Expertise France also supports operators in the professionalisation of artisanal transport through reforms co-designed with public authorities and operators (regulation, licensing policies, service coverage, etc.).

At the local level, Expertise France works in response to the needs of its African partners to support mobility policies and develop inclusive transport systems that serve more accessible territories (improving safety conditions in transport, particularly for women and vulnerable groups; dedicated facilities for “active modes” such as walking and cycling, including coherent pedestrian and cycle networks; fostering the emergence of urban innovation in Africa — whether digital solutions or shared mobility — adapted to local contexts).
