Deputy CEO of Expertise France since August 2023, Cassilde Brenière has been contributing for more than 25 years to the emergence of development models with concrete results on populations. She is particularly committed to gender equality.
Within the AFD Group, she has contributed to the international debate on natural resources and climate, but also to the evolution of the methods and postures in support of public policies, peer cooperation, and institution building. She is also committed to advancing accountability and learning in the agency’s projects.
Agricultural and Rural Engineer of Water and Forests, she began her career in the private sector, as a technical assistant, among other things in Colombia, Burkina Faso, in the Philippines and in Romania, then in charge of a water and sanitation operations unit serving 600,000 inhabitants in the suburbs of Paris. She joined the AFD Group in 2009 as project manager, before becoming responsible for the division in charge of all water and sanitation projects financed by the AFD.
In 2016, she moved to Morocco to become deputy director of the AFD agency in Rabat for 4 years, where she oversaw the teams of one of the largest AFD agencies and advocated for the advancement of gender equality through new initiatives.
She was then appointed deputy director of the AFD’s Executive Directorate of Operations in Paris in 2020, and finally deputy managing director in charge of operations at Expertise France in 2023.
