APPUI - Priority Assistance in Crisis Periods in Ukraine

The aim of the project is to help improve access to essential health services for the Ukrainian population, and to respond to urgent requests from the Ukrainian health authorities.

The project is currently in its launching phase, allowing the project team to refine needs and redefine activities in collaboration with stakeholders. It aims specifically to improve patient care in targeted healthcare pathways, prioritizing mental health and cancer, as well as enhancing the quality of services in targeted healthcare facilities through rehabilitation work and procurement of specialized materials and equipment.

Expertise France's healthcare intervention aligns with the exchanges between the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, regional health authorities, and the French institutional landscape (DAEI, DGOS, TaskForce Ukraine, French Embassy, etc.).

The project revolves around four axes currently being defined:

1. Strengthening specific mental health care and addressing trauma related to the war context;
2. Urgent rehabilitation of healthcare facilities, particularly in the Chernihiv region and priority oblasts identified by the French government;
3. Emergency procurement and provision of specialized medical equipment, facilitated by a dedicated emergency fund managed by a Franco-Ukrainian committee;
4. Enhancing Franco-Ukrainian hospital exchanges and mobilizing expertise, particularly in cancer care as part of France's comprehensive cancer care offering, led by the Directorate of European and International Affairs of the Social Ministries.
