This project aims to strengthen the operational capacities of civil protection in Guinea in order to enhance its visibility and contribute to greater overall effectiveness.
In the first phase, the project prioritizes the establishment of units operating in a decentralized manner. It has two main objectives.
Objective 1: Strengthen the Conakry Fire Brigade
The project aims to strengthen the Conakry Fire Brigade by enhancing its capabilities in managing common risks (road, air, and maritime transport, fire hazards, flooding). This involves:
- Designing and implementing a training program for firefighters (crew leaders, station chiefs, fire engine operation, etc.)
- Equipping the fire brigade with intervention tools and materials (response equipment, vehicles, IT resources)
- Developing four modern and suitably equipped fire and rescue stations (CIS) tailored to the needs of the firefighters.
Objective 2: Establish four civil protection units in the major cities
The creation of four civil protection units in the main cities of Guinea aims to reestablish a presence in the country's interior and ensure better operational coverage for emergency response efforts benefiting the population. The project includes:
- Designing and implementing a training program for civil protection personnel
- Equipping the staff of the four Civil Protection Units (CPUs) with intervention tools and materials
- Developing four modern civil protection units adapted to the needs of the CPUs
To date, 413 personnel have been trained, and 159 have been integrated into Civil Protection Units (CPUs). Among them are numerous civil protection agents and so-called “non-registered” military personnel, who could be offered a professional career path within the CPUs (final beneficiaries).
