“L’Initiative” is a French mechanism that complements the work of the Global Fund by accelerating the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and by helping countries improve access to high-quality health services. Expertise France implements L’Initiative under the supervision of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Key figures 2025

  • 586K people got access to health and social services through projects supported by L'Initiative
  • +100K people from targeted communities benefitted from HIV prevention actions
  • +34K malaria cases were treated, and more than 4,560 people were screened and notified for tuberculosis
  • 11K health and field staff were trained
